About Chiron

Our Story

Chiron Healthcare Consulting was born out of a hunger for learning.

Established at the University of Michigan in the winter of 2024, CHC was born of out a desire from five pre-medical students who decided an education in the life sciences simply wasn't enough preparation for today's careers in medicine.

With the rise of staffing shortages, private practice shutdown, occupational burnout, and the need for advancing health equity around the world, CHC's founders saw a need to educate and transform the world of healthcare strategy and its goals from the ground up, and what better place to do it than at the very start of it all – undergraduate education.

Proud to be Michigan Wolverines, the founders of Chiron embrace the Michigan spirit every day through multidisciplinary peer education, entrepreneurship, and civil service.

Executive Board

Chiron prides itself on its interdisciplinary team – students hailing from coast to coast, majoring and minoring in the best that the University of Michigan has to offer. There's always something new to be found at Michigan, and we're proud to say the same about the members of our team.

President

Lucas Alcocer

Lucas is a Junior at the University of Michigan studying Cognitive Science with a focus on Decision and Cognition and a minor in Entrepreneurship. He is passionate about the healthcare startup space and hopes to engage in one after his time in medicine. Outside of school, Lucas is training to become an EMT and enjoys spending time outdoors. After graduation, he plans to work in strategy consulting for two years before pursuing an MD and a career as a physician.

Carter Pontone

Carter is a Sophomore at the University of Michigan studying Communications & Media, with a minor in Economics. He is passionate about Healthcare equity, marketing, and strategy. In his free time, Carter likes to ski and play with his three dogs on the beach. Post graduation, Carter plans to work in Strategy consulting before pursuing his MBA.

Yutong He

Yutong is a Sophomore at the University of Michigan studying Neuroscience a minor in Computer Science. She is passionate about healthcare equity and women’s health. Yutong also enjoys exploring Tiktok shop and spending time with family. After graduation, she plans to go to Medical School and surgery.

Sonali Pawa

Sonali is a Junior studying Public Health with a minor in Entrepreneurship! She is passionate about health equity, policy and law. In her free time, she likes to work out, bake, and play with her dogs. After graduation, Sonali plans to work in healthcare consulting before applying to law school!

Suraj Rangnath

Suraj is a Sophomore at the University of Michigan studying Biomolecular Science with minors in Business and Political Science. He is passionate about advancing healthcare equity and improving access to quality care, aiming to contribute to strategic decision-making in these fields. Outside of school, Suraj enjoys playing tennis, cooking, and spending time outdoors. After graduation, he plans to work in healthcare or management consulting before transitioning to venture capital or private equity.
